Annual event a
great weekend

The annual Queen Liliuokalani canoe race has come and gone, and it was another great weekend.

Mahalo to Kai Opua Canoe Club and its remarkable leadership. All of the club membership contributed in some way or another.

It is the world’s largest long distance canoe race and this was its 41st year. Now that is some record to be proud of.

The event started on Saturday and continued through Labor Day on Monday. Paddlers were present from all over the world and the celebrations carried so much aloha.

TSA workers
deserve praise

I wanted to say thank you to the TSA agents who helped me through security at Kona International Airport the other morning. I needed to escort a special needs child to Oahu along with wheelchair, carseat, a cooler of medications and luggage.

This potentially difficult day began smoothly because of the agents’ genuine smiles, aloha and their speedy work getting us through security.

I am sure they do not hear positive feedback enough.
